Staying In a Hostel. |Travel Thursdays|

My First time staying in a hostel was when i went travelling, i had never done it before and honestly never thought about ever staying in one but when your travelling alone they happen to be on the cheapest places to stay besides sofa surfing that is. the idea of staying in a hostel did worry me a little bit but it was something that had to be done to save as much money as possible, people would go on about the hostel movie to me and go on about if i was worried about my things getting stolen and this did nothing to calm me down, Just to add i have never watched hostel the movie and don’t think i plan to.

So with all that in mind you can imagine i was less than looking forward to my stays in hostels as it wasn’t just the odd one, i was staying in all different ones all over the world! But thankfully i didn’t need to worry about anything my first stay in one was way better than expected and by the end of my trip i had a new idea of hostels and would recommend them to everyone a well as stay in them again.

There are 6 styles of rooms to chose from and i feel i tried and tested all of what i could to give my opinion of what i personally liked best.

  1. mixed large
  2. mixed small
  3. female only large
  4. female only small
  5. male large
  6. male small

for obvious reasons i didn’t stay in the male rooms but i did stay in the other’s i didn’t dislike any style i felt comfortable in all the styles, i think it depends on your personal preference if you think you could handle sharing with both sexes they are normally the cheapest, this was something i was reluctant to do but had no choice in some places but actually found it wasn’t bad at all. The large mixed really felt like you were in a school dorm on a trip or something. the best thing about female only was they nearly always had the bathroom in the room and you could nip out in your towel where as if you were in a mixed room you wouldn’t want to do that. Out of all of them i would say a small female was the one i liked the best just because i seemed to talk to everyone in the room and just felt more at home if that’s possible in a hostel, but i would do any again what ever is available at the time.

All the hostels I’ve stayed at and would recommend to anyone planning a trip in any one or more of the destinations are listed below and are in order of stay.
